A rectangle has length 9 and width 5. What is its perimeter?

28

The perimeter of a rectangle is the distance around it, which comes from adding all four sides. Since opposite sides are equal, you can add two lengths and two widths: P = 2 × (length + width). With length 9 and width 5, P = 2 × (9 + 5) = 2 × 14 = 28. You can also see it by adding all four sides directly: 9 + 5 + 9 + 5 = 28.
